SnapSOP creates, edits and exports SOPs entirely on your device. No account is required. Screenshots, SOP text and settings are never sent to us or any third party.
activeTab, scripting: to take screenshots and detect clicks on the tab you are recording, only after you start a capture.storage, unlimitedStorage: to keep your SOPs and screenshots on your device.downloads: to save the files you export.alarms: to re-check a Pro license at most once a day.contextMenus: only if you enable “Capture from right-click menu” in Settings.api.lemonsqueezy.com: only when you activate a Pro license. While recording, SnapSOP reads only the label and position of the element you click. It never reads what you type into fields, your clipboard, or form data.
Exports and backups are files written to your Downloads folder only when you click Export or Backup. What you do with those files is up to you.
SnapSOP contains no analytics or telemetry.
SnapSOP Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record. Checkout happens on Lemon Squeezy's website under their privacy policy; SnapSOP never sees your payment details.
When you activate a license, the extension sends only your license key and an instance name (“SnapSOP (Chrome)”, “SnapSOP (Edge)” or “SnapSOP (Firefox)”) to the Lemon Squeezy License API, and re-validates it at most once a day. No SOP content, screenshots or browsing data are ever sent. Cancelling or changing a subscription happens in Lemon Squeezy's customer portal, which SnapSOP only links to.
If the license server can't be reached, Pro keeps working for 72 hours after the last successful check. All free and local features, including export, backup and data deletion, work fully offline and are never locked.
When enabled, right before each screenshot SnapSOP blurs password, email, phone and card fields and any visible text that looks like an email, card number, token or key, then restores the page. Field values are checked inside the page and are never read back, stored or sent.
Only when you click "Check SOP" and confirm the listed sites, SnapSOP opens the pages recorded in that SOP in a new window, without clicking or typing, checks whether each step's element still exists and compares a new screenshot (sensitive content blurred) with the stored one. The new screenshots are reduced to a fingerprint and discarded; results stay on your device.
When you import another tool's export, its text and images are read on your device. If the export links to images on the web, SnapSOP downloads them from those addresses (you're asked for permission per site) and stores them locally.
The exported walkthrough script contains only the SOP's step titles, descriptions and element selectors. On the site where you install it, it remembers the current step in that browser tab's session storage and sends nothing anywhere.
Execution logs (who ran the SOP, step outcomes, notes and times) are stored inside the SOP on your device and in the report file you download. Nothing is sent anywhere.
When a free-plan user opens a Pro feature, SnapSOP asks https://www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace for the current UTC time so the daily tries reset at 00:00 UTC regardless of the device clock. Only the timestamp is read; no SOP content, screenshots or identifiers are sent. As with any web request, Cloudflare sees your IP address. Offline, no new day starts until the time can be checked.
Reading text in screenshots runs entirely on your device with a bundled engine (Tesseract). Screenshots are never uploaded for OCR.
You can publish an SOP to destinations you configure — a webhook, GitHub, GitLab, S3-compatible storage, Notion, Confluence or WordPress. Publishing happens only when you click Publish, after a confirmation that names the destination; the SOP text and its screenshots are then sent to that destination only. Access tokens you enter are stored only in this browser.
The recorder asks Chrome for screen/window sharing and, if you choose narration, the microphone — only when you start it. Recordings and voice notes stay on your device unless you download or export them.
If you choose a sync folder, SOPs and screenshots are written to that folder on your computer (for example a Dropbox or OneDrive folder). What your sync provider does with that folder is governed by its own terms.
Full-page capture scrolls the page and briefly hides fixed headers to stitch screenshots, then restores it. While a screen recording runs with “Show clicks & shortcuts”, web pages display click ripples and keyboard shortcuts; typed characters are never shown or stored.
When you start a live guide, SnapSOP opens the SOP's pages and shows an on-page overlay. It reads only the page elements needed to highlight each step.
Open the SnapSOP library and click Delete all data, or uninstall the extension. Both remove all SOPs, screenshots and settings from your device.
